Theme: Back to Basics: Country Systems
The TAICEP Professional Development Committee (PDC) invites credential evaluators, researchers, admissions officers, and international education professionals to share their expertise. This series fosters practical knowledge sharing across all experience levels-from newcomers building foundations to seasoned practitioners navigating complex casework.
Guidance for Presenters: What Makes a Standout Proposal?
Our international community is looking for concrete clarity they can apply immediately to daily evaluation casework.
Because educational systems are vast, you do not need to cover an entire country from primary school to doctorate. In fact, highly focused deep dives into specific, challenging sectors are among our most practical and popular sessions.
1. Choose Your Scope: Broad System vs. Targeted
The committee welcomes both system-wide orientations and targeted investigations:
Option A: Comprehensive System Overview
Best for: Countries where baseline structures, recent national reforms, or current recognition authorities need clear mapping (e.g., Sudan, Cameroon's dual English/French subsystems, post-conflict reconstruction).
Focus: Primary academic and vocational ladders, authoritative institutional databases, standard document flows, and fraud indicators.
Option B: Specialized or "Niche" Focus
Best for: Well-known countries where evaluators understand the standard university pathways, but frequently face challenging standalone or alternative credentials.
Focus: Unpacking a specific professional council, autonomous framework, or alternative track (e.g., Chartered Accountancy [ICAI] and professional bodies in India, allied health diplomas, polytechnic vs. university applied tracks, autonomous colleges, religious, or military institutions).
2. What Reviewers & Attendees Look For:
Regardless of your chosen scope, the strongest proposals feature:
Clear Recognition & Regulatory Authority: Which ministry, statutory council, or professional body governs the qualification, and how an evaluator confirms official standing.
Document Authentication & Transmission: Official document appearances, terminology, verification portals, and red flags for altered or counterfeit documents.
Practical Application: 1–2 authentic or anonymized sample dossiers showing how to interpret grades, determine benchmark levels, or make an evaluation decision.
3. Managing Time: Live Delivery vs. Handouts (60–75 Minutes)
Each webinar is scheduled for 60–75 minutes (including Q&A) and hosted live on Zoom:
Live Session: Focus on the core narrative, key decision points, verification demonstrations, and guided case studies.
Handouts for Deep Dives: Evaluators love comprehensive sample dossiers, grading scales, and resource link sheets! Presenters are encouraged to provide these in a downloadable session handout rather than rushing through them on slides.
Two-Part Option: If your topic is exceptionally complex, the PDC welcomes linked proposals for a Part I and Part II series.
